I have a couple of folders on my C: drive. One is New Photos. If I'm in the New Photos folder in the Default workspace and then switch to my Keywords workspace it defaults back to the top level C: and I have drill down a bit to New Photos. Is there a setting to keep the current folder open from workspace to workspace? I've looked in preferences but haven't found it.
Many thanks.
The selected folder is saved in the workspace.
This has been asked before. Isn't there a feature request already to change that?

Sorry I'm not clear. If I change the workspace the selected folder doesn't follow to the new workspace. It reverts to the top level.
Try to select a folder before switching the workspace, then save the workspace again.
If it reverts to the top-level, something is wrong. Maybe the last selected folder was not found or the tree state not restored. Not sure...
It seems no matter what I do it reverts to the top level. Even if I select a different folder before switching to another workspace it'll go to the top level. I've tried it with different folders and different work-spaces but get the same results. I just want it to stay in the folder I'm already in.
Don't know if the log file will help but I've attached it.
Many thanks
Select a folder and save the workspace before switching.
Repeat for the workspace you switch to.
I guess the workspace you switch to was saved with the root element selected and thus it is restored when you switch back.
The entire state of the media and folders tree, the expanded/collapsed items and the selected/focused element are stored in the workspace. When you switch to another workspace, the entire state is restored. This also revers the selected folder back to the folder selected when the workspace you load was current. You cannot "keep" the current folder.
OK that works. Thanks a lot.
Would keeping the same folder when switching workspaces make sense as an option?
As said above by me and others, there is a feature request for this.
But this is quite complicated to implement, because not only the selected folders and focused folder are affected, but also the complete tree state, filter state and a lot more. And this would require to rewrite quite a bit of the workspace code and I won't do that until there is a lot more demand.
Consider using folder favorites (in the panel below the Media & Folders tree) to keep your frequently used folders quickly accessible. Also, the folder history in the Media & Folder (toolbar buttons in the Media & Folders View) allows you to move back and forth between recently used folders.
OK will do. Thanks for helping me out.
