Title: Imatch Help
Post by: Dasym on February 14, 2019, 06:38:22 PM
I find I can't access this from the Help menu. If I choose Open the Help System it takes me to this page: https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/. If I press F1 it also takes me to that page, even although that page says to press F1 for Context-Sensitive Help. If I choose Imatch 2019 Help from the Windows start menu, it also just takes me to that page. Is that the way it's supposed to work now?

Yes, indeed.
The IMatch help has been migrated to a web-based help system with the release of IMatch 2018. See https://www.photools.com/imatch-2018-whats-new/ for all details.

The web-based help is superior to the Windows CHM based help, and of course also works context-sensitive with <F1>.
It has a much improved search function, you can use the built-in tools in your browser to translate it into your language if you want, I can update the help much faster (and I do!) etc.

For users which don't have a on-line connection all the time, I initially planned to maintain a separate help system app: https://www.photools.com/imatch-help-app/
But, frankly, this has been downloaded maybe 20 times over the past couple of months. It's just not worth it. Most users are very happy with the online help. This is just how things work today.

Yes, that's good, but pressing F1 just takes me to the same page (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/), ie., just contents, not context-sensitive at all. This is when on the Preferences dialogue. I see now that in other areas of IMatch, such as file window, categories panel, etc, it does open the context-sensitive Help

Works great here. Which version of IMatch are you using? You can check via Help menu > About.

Seems to be up to date, Mario: 2019.1.4.

Hm. I tried with both FF and Chrome, no issues.
What happens when you click into the File Window and press <F1>?
Maybe some browser plug-ins interfering? No reports from other users...

It works in the File Window, taking me to the File Window help page in Firefox. I just noticed it in the Preferences dialogue as that's where I was searching for help information.

All that I've tried. Specifically: Metadata, File Relations, Application, Database.

Works here. I will probably add some log file entries to see which URL IMatch is calling. This will allow us to see if the URL is wrong or something else.
