Installation went smooth.
Database just opened well.
Viewer speed improved? Scrolling got faster again :-)

Only thing i recognized during installation:
The file size shown in the customer portal download area shows a "?" only. It does show the filesize for 2017.14.2

Imatch 2018 upgrade purchased, downloaded and installed. I opened it, and it seems faster, though I haven't done any real exploration or work YET!  I'm eager to begin to use all the new features.  THANKS, Mario, for your unsurpassed dedication in developing and supporting IMatch!!!  :) :) :)

Same here; very good news and congratulations on this milestone.

Is it correct that it will be installed in the IMatch6 folder?

Installation worked fine, it removed the icon on my desktop for IMatch 2017 and replaced it with a new icon (Imatch 2018), but that is not true for Pack&Go. The old icon remained and had to be replaced manually.

Installed along with new IMA version... both installed seamlessly... databases upgraded without issue.. and oh boy - IMatch opens at least 75% faster on my system now!!!  Things seem much snappier in use too... Yippee!!!  Christmas in July!!!    8)

Thanks. I've fixed that. Caused by the now only 64-bit editions.

I think you may have created that icon yourself at some point.
When I remember correctly, the installer does not create an icon for Pack & Go on the desktop during installation, only for IMatch.

Yes. I did not see a reason to change that. It's such a nice folder and changing it is a massive PITA - for users and me.

Did you notice the new "Scan for Changes" button in the App Translator yet? This allows you to search for all resource files with new or added app resources in one go. For a more detailed description and the diff file download, see https://www.photools.com/translating-imatch-apps-app-translator/

It should open much faster for all users. The absolute snappiness experienced by the user depends on various factors, e.g. which panels are open and visible and other factors. IMatch now delays more panel updates if they are currently hidden, uses delayed updates for some other UI-related things, even the log file is faster.

I cannot really tell anymore because I'm using IMatch 2018 for so long now. But some beta testers told me the same, that their DB now loads twice or three times as fast. These are the ones with many panels open, especially 'expensive' panels like categories, some filters, collections.

The performance measures included in this release apply to many IMatch operations, not only the startup. My largest database is now 580,000 files, and it feels still fast on my system...

Bought, dowloaded, installed it already.
I can confirm the speed improvements experienced by others.

And reading the IMatch 2018 What's new page, I discovered that I did not register all improvements even though I followed the forum discussions.

One very minor thing: In the paragraph "Access Your Batch Processor Presets from the Commands Menu" the following sentence "By pressing F9, Backspace you can now show/hide all open panels quickly." has slipped in from "Quickly Toggle All Panels with a Keyboard Shortcut".

I'm starting to explore IMatch 2018, and I love the Apps "IMatch News" and the "Category Dashboard"  -- but there's SO much more, it's going to take a while to learn about all the things that will be useful for my workflow(s).

I had this problem multiple times when upgrading. I just change the EMail address in the IMatch Customer Portal afterwards so that all products are accessible using the same credentials.

You buy the software from myCommerce / DigitialRiver. They send my system the email you have used for your purchase, and this email is used to create your log-in and license key. My systems don't have any additional knowledge about you or your email. I try to minimize the data I gather and maintain, for privacy reasons.

You can change your email to whatever you like after logging into the customer portal via the "My Data" button at the top.
The customer portal will combine all purchases and products per email.

I unfortunately could only use 2 weeks of my iMatch 2017 trial for in-depth testing (round-tripping with LR and CR, the latter's trial ended to early).

But fortunately there was enough time to follow this forum frequently. Besides all the teasers (I'm especially keen on the upcoming File Window Apps), I've realized Mario's commitment and passion on his product is outstanding.
Though I "love" LR as a developing tool and a database, Adobe's turn to the subscription policy made it clear to me what should be the central part in my tool chain in the long run: an independent state-of-the-art metadata manager!

Question: MyCommerce/Share-It still lists iMatch 2017 on the shopping card. Is this on purpose (due to the fact that the 2018 release just happened to occur on a Sunday)?

IMatch 2017 should have been deactivated/de-listed  by myCommerce / DigitialRiver by now. At least I hope so. IMatch is used in over 70 countries now, and each country has its own legal requirements and regulations....I'm still fixing loose ends everywhere...

Can you provide a link to where IMatch 2017 is still listed?

And yes, IMatch 2018 is really good.

Two bugs have been reported so far, and one is fixed already.
As soon as I have fixed the other and am done with all the background operations I will ship release 2018.7.4. This will then also allow users to test the new Updater App  :)

Anyway, I found something that should have something inside.
When I click View / App Views I only see a blanck square with nothing inside.

There are no app views (yet), but I decided to let the menu command in place - as a sort of teaser  ;)

My first priority is yet to get

a) all the administrative and service stuff done,
b) fix the bugs which will inevitably found and
c) complete and ship IMatch Anywhere 2018.

Then I will have time to finish one or two new file window types (cool stuff!) and the first new View type - all implemented as apps.

A map bug in IMatch 2018?

I've tried (with various map views: Google Street, OpenStreet, etc.) to set an image to a defined location, but even though I click to "Apply Location Coordinates to Selected Files," nothing seems to happen, and no "globe" icon shows up on the thumbnail and no data is written into the location metadata fields.

I did save a Debug log file, and can submit it if that might help.

No problems here with that.

Do you have automatic reverse geo-coding enabled under Edit > Preferences > Geo & Maps. If so, which service do you use and are your credentials OK?
For a test, disable automatic reverse geocoding and then retry to set the coordinates.

I did have automatic reverse geo-coding enabled, but after disabling it, the problem persists: I cannot map or locate a photo into an existing location.

This problem occurs whether I use Google Maps OR OpenStreet maps.  I went to Google Maps and -- though it was somewhat confusing -- set up an API for use.  I closed and reopened IMatch 2018, and tried again, with both OpenStreet maps and with Google Street maps.  NOTHING worked, so I can no longer use the map panel to assign coordinates or location to any image.  Tried with several different images at several different predefined locations.  NO SUCCESS.

Done.

Still don't have this functionality.  Cannot use map panel to set GPS latitude and longitude for any file using my locations. 

Other ideas?  Or should I send you a complete debug log file?

Please attach an IMatch log file from a session where you tried to assign GPS coordinates to an image via the Map Panel.
If there is something wrong, IMatch should log something...

I've just tried with OSM and Google Maps. No problem assigning the target marker coordinates to images. So it should work on your system also. No idea, sorry.

Here's an attached log file from a  little earlier today, when I was trying to use the Map panel to assign GPS and location coordinates to an image or two. . .  Thanks for any guidance you can offer . . . and no big hurry -- in the meantime I can copy GPS and location data from files  to which it  was previously loaded using earlier versions of IMatch...

I've tested this problem some more, and found that I can set a map location for a photo file using the Target Marker, but  trying to use an existing named LOCATION in my list of locations still doesn't work.  And when I use the Target Marker, it only saves the GPS latitude and longitude data, and -- understandably -- doesn't populate the LOCATION fields in my metadata. 

While doing this test, I've used a completely different image file and saved a new Debugging Level Log File.  Both are attached. . .

Ah, that's important. You are trying to set coordinates from a previously stored location.

Because in your log file (somewhere above, we really should have created a proper bug report for this, not mixing it into the general "IMatch 2018 is here" thread) IMatch reports problems loading stored locations from the database.

When you look at your stored locations in the Map Panel, do they look OK?
Are they filled correctly? Maybe make a change so they are stored again in the database. Then retry.
Keep / attach the log file from that session.

If the problem persists, I would need your database here. Or at least I would need to send you instructions on how to extract the settings from your database file so I can look at them here. Maybe something is broken in the stored locations...

I have found a bug with applying locations in the Map Panel. The problem was that IMWS did not state correctly which coordinate pair was to set from the location and hence nothing happened.
Fixed for the next release.

My apologies for that!  When I first noticed the mapping issue, I thought it was something simple that deserved a mention in the "general" discussion of the newly-released IMatch 2018.  After my first attempts at resolving it failed, I should have continued my communications as a Bug Report. 

Glad to hear that it's not an issue I caused, and once again, it's Mario to the rescue! More evidence of Photools unsurpassed support!

There is still the error message in your log files about IMatch having problems loading one or more locations from the database.
Did you check that your locations are visible in the map panel? Is so, maybe changing them slightly to force a re-save may solve the problem and the error report should be gone when you close and restart IMatch.

Great job on the 2018 release. It installed flawlessly on both my desktop and notebook. It just seems a bit faster. I've been using it without any issues for my normal workflow.

In addition I spent some time poking around on features that I don't regularly use. Statistics works nicely, however I found that for numerical data, such as focal length, that there were just too many unique focal lengths to get the range covered, even with 150 categories. It's not very useful to know how many images were at tenths of mm differences. Adding a bin size parameter would be useful for this kind of data.

If you have so many different focal length I would limit to the top 20 or 30.
Or use the data-driven category for focal length below the IMatch Standard Categories category.
For data-driven categories you can also use variables as input, which allows you to transform and cluster your focal length. Or, use the metadata tag but apply the numeric ranges option.
Usually focal length is not so interesting but there are at least 3 ways in IMatch to get feedback about which focal length you use most.

In my 257'000 files I search for e.g. "meunier" and IMatch finds 54 files in roughly about 2 seconds!!

I waited to upgrade until today and IMatch 2018.7.6 was released
and the bug solution  "Invalid GPS Destination (looked at) #00596" was integrated.

After Backing up I started the upgrade.
All went smooth and fast including the database upgrade for my more than 200.000 pics.

First I was dissapointed, until I found the menu item "Display field of view"  ;)
Now I love the long awaited new feature "Field of view" Thanks a lot.  :) :) :)
So I don't need to open "Geo Setter"  separately anymore for this functionality.

I'm glad that you like it. Many other cool enhancements in IMatch 2018!

You can disable the FOV because many users find it irritating (unless needed). And displaying 100 files with "FOV on for all" can render everything in blue  ;)

Am Wochenende vom Urlaub zurück.
Am Montagmorgen Banküberweisung getätigt.
Vorhin die Freigabe erhalten - schneller geht es nicht. Super

IM 2018.7.6 sofort installiert - klappte reibunglos.
Anpassung hat nicht mal ein Augenzwinkern gedauert.

Jetzt gehe ich auf Entdeckungsreise. Ist wie Weihnachten und das bei der Affenhitze.

This is actually a new question regarding IMatch 2018.  Currently a fairly long time user of IMatch starting at level 3 and 2017 version user.  In the process of budgeting for staying a current user of IMatch xx, compared with other options (not many), how long does my upgrade fee of $71.99  cover me for free updates?  Did not see a clear statement on this.

When you purchase a license, you pay to get a license for the current IMatch version. Like you would buy a book.
If you want access to a newer major version and continuous support from me, you buy a license for the new major version when it comes out.

IMatch does not use a subscription-based license model and will not stop working when you don't buy the upgrade.

If you think you have not got enough mileage out of your license purchase, use IMatch for a couple of months longer.

The last paid upgrade for IMatch was in June 2017, 13 months ago.
Assuming you've bought an upgrade on the first day for 69$ you've paid 5,30$ per month to use my software and my support.
That's less than you pay for one coffee at Starbucks. And less than a Big Mac.

Hi Mario.

I tried to update to 2018 on 17/11, but stupidly entered the credit card expiry date incorrectly, and the card was denied. Following the instructions in the email I received, I changed the information, but could not get back to the order page. So I tried again; but, of course, the discount code was now invalid...

Could you possibly reset the code for me so that I can complete the upgrade at the discounted price? My order number was : 578803663.

I've sent a couple of emails to 'support', but have got no reply.

When did you send these emails? And to which "support"? You can contact me via support email address (https://www.photools.com/support/) and I will respond within 24 hours. It's 8:30 AM here in Germany so If you did sent your several emails last night, I might not have read them yet. I usually start with 30 to 50 fresh emails every morning...

I sent both emails to DELETED' - the first on 19/11 and the second on 21/11.
They contained my order number, lincence key and coupon code.

PS: Please don't post email addresses in public forums like this. There are many SPAM bots visiting forums every day, trying to collect new email addresses to use for sending/receiving SPAM...

I have just received a refund notice for the difference on my upgrade purchase of IM 2018. I am now taking an in-depth look at the software and the information in the help files and on the site.

You just had missed to enter your coupon code and accidentally paid the full price. I just corrected that. Fair is fair.

And, selfishly, good customer service usually pays off in the end.
Happy users buy upgrades and tell others about IMatch and their support experience. So maybe more users learn about IMatch and can see if it works for them, too.
