Title: Automatic File Ingestion Inhibited
Post by: Darius1968 on June 13, 2021, 09:47:17 AM
This log file is a recording of the events over just a few minutes, from the time I launched IMatch and opened my DB.  I simply saved - from Notepad - a text file to the folder, "C:\Users\Darius\Pictures\Camera Roll\", on my internal SSD, expecting IMatch to detect a modification to that folder, and thus, updating it, with the new text file, for my DB.

I waited around three minutes, with nothing happening.  I finally had to manually rescan that folder myself, to add the new text file to my DB.  Does this log file point out anything that might have happened, to 'pull the wool over IMatch's eyes'?  Thanks.

IMatch did not receive any message from Windows about modified files and thus did not trigger a folder rescan.
Keep the log in debug mode for more elaborate logging.
Check your settings under Edit > Preferences >Indexing and make sure they are correct. Show us a screen shot.

The log file - I've already sent you - reflects IMatch being in debug mode.  I'm attaching - to this reply - a screenshot, about my preferences for the indexing.

Just checked: Use Windows Explorer to create a new text file in a folder monitored by IMatch.
After 10s, IMatch marks the folder as modified, and a few seconds later the file is added.
The same happens when I open Notepad and save a file into a folder monitored by IMatch.
IMatch gets messages from Windows and rescans the folder.

Reboot your system. Close any software which may interfere with Windows file system messages.

A full reboot solved the problem.  However, since I'm running exactly the same programs now, as what I was before the reboot, how do I go about troubleshooting the cause of the problem, when/if this happens again?
Also, what are common causes for a Windows PC not powering off at shutdown, necessitating a force shutdown, by depressing the PC's power button for 5 seconds?  I ask here because when this happens, it's usually when I've just been using IMatch and Firefox, and nothing else, and when I boot my PC, if I shutdown right after it's booted, complete shutdown will happen.

I have no idea.
I use Firefox. No other user has ever reported this.
