what is the block counter for and what does it mean?

Should I be concerned about high block counters?
Though, not sure if 235 is a high number...
When you see this number go into the thousands, let me know ;)
For what it is worth, in build 80 I saw approximately one block counted for each ingested image. At 15000 images the score went pretty high.
With the current build the counter did not reach 200 during initial ingestion.
