IMatch supports databases and images stored on network servers, or peer computers in a small or home office network. You can index images located on a remote computer to a database either via drive mappings (a driver letter mapped to a remote drive) or via more versatile UNC paths (\\Server\Share\Folder). If you use UNC paths to address images, you can open this database on all computers on your network.
IMatch allows multiple users to share a database on a network in read-only mode. The users can work with the database, but are not able to make modifications to it. All corresponding commands and operation are disabled in this mode.
If the database needs to be updated, a single (Administrator) user can open the database in write-mode, locking out all other users unless the database is closed again.
This rather simple working model is sufficient for about 60% to 80% of all networked environments. If you need a more sophisticated multi-user image management system, you may evaluate the products from other vendors. Be prepared to pay several thousand US$ for such a solution.
