How to I find all images without a category?

IMatch provides a special category formula named “@Unassigned” which returns all images not assigned to a category.

By default, IMatch creates a category named 1 Unassigned when you create a database. This category uses the @Unassigned formula to virtually contain all images not assigned to a category.

If you have deleted this category, you can re-create it as follows:

  • Create a new category with a name to your liking directly under @All
  • Right-click the new category and choose Properties
  • In the category Expression field, type
    “@Unassigned”
  • Close the dialog with OK

The new category now virtually contains all images not assigned to a category. Assignments to data-driven categories are automatically ignored by this formula.

Use this special category formula only once and always in a category which is a direct child of the @All category. Only under these conditions @Unassigned works as expected.

Other category formulas you may find useful: CatNoRecurse@, CatDistinct@, @Rating, @Label. More info on these formulas can be found in the IMatch help.
